How do I connect i-Bell to Wi-Fi?

To connect i-bell to your home or office Wi-Fi network, you must have a wireless router.
The range of your Wi-Fi network will vary depending on the type of wireless router you own, as well as the distance between the router and i-bell. To see if i-bell will be in range, first make sure your i-Bell is fully charged. Download the app to your device. Then place your i-Bell against the wall that you intend to locate it. To check to see if you are connected to your Wi-Fi network simply open the app and go through the synchronisation process. If your i-Bell device is not visible it is not connected to your Wi-Fi network. Follow the troubleshooting instructions.

Does i-Bell need Mains Power?

No, i-Bell is fitted with a lithium rechargeable battery that will last for approximately 4 months (depending on use) from full charge. It is recharges via the mini USB connection.

Will i-Bell operate in extreme weather conditions?

Yes, i-Bell has been designed and built to IP66 standards, which means that it is able to withstand harsh weather conditions -40 to 140 F. The internal components are built into a sealed environment, making the device weatherproof.

What devices can i-Bell be used with?

i-Bell has been designed to be compatible with most mobile operating systems including Apple, Android and Blackberry. It is also PC and MAC computer compatible.

Can I record and store video or images from i-Bell?

Yes, this is a major security function available only with i-Bell. You will have allocated 7days of cloud storage space FREE for video and images. The cloud storage will be fully secured and protected. All images and videos will be automatically removed unless you have opted for additional storage which will be charged for.

Will i-Bell send me a push notification without internet?

Yes, as long as your i-Bell is connected to your Wi-Fi you will receive push notifications to your smartphone or other device only if your smartphone or device is receiving a 3g, 4g, LTE or Wi-Fi signal. If your smartphone or device is not connected or has no Wi-Fi or network service, you will receive a notification within the call history in the app. The caller will also have the option to leave a voicemail, if this function has been activated on your account.

If I do not have any Wi-Fi connection on my smartphone, will I still receive a notification of who is ringing my i-Bell?

Yes, as long as your smartphone network carrier does not block video streaming over 3g or 4g or LTE, you will be able to receive and connect with the caller at your door.

If I have more than one i-Bell device, how will I know which one I am being called from?

If you have more than one i-Bell fitted at the same home or office location, the app will notify you when it rings which location it has been activated from. If you have more than one i-Bell fitted at different home or office locations, i-bell will inform you which home or office is contacting you.

Will i-Bell also ring like a normal doorbell?

Yes, i-Bell will be fitted with an internal audio chime. This is to simply let the caller know that i-Bell has been activated. This is not designed for audible bell notification within your home.

Will the i-Bell app need to be running in the background of my smartphone to receive notifications of callers?

No, i-Bell technology will work on ‘push-notifications’, which will activate and notify your smartphone without it running in the background. There will be a function within the app for ‘Do Not Disturb’ function should you not want to receive calls.

Can I rotate the i-Bell camera through my smartphone or other device ?

No, i-Bell will be fitted with an internal camera that will have a 180 degree field of view, any adjustment will be within i-Bell itself.

Can i-Bell see callers at my door at night?

Yes, i-Bell is fitted with a fully functional high-powered night vision camera, which will supply easy to view live video feed on your personal device

Will I need to disconnect the power supply of a wired doorbell before connecting i-Bell?

Yes, we fully recommend that you disconnect any power supply to your existing doorbell if you are connecting i-Bell to your existing doorbell wiring.

How do I fix i-Bell to the outside of my home?

You will need to follow the instructions supplied with your i-Bell. There will be two sets of instructions for connecting to existing doorbell wiring or using the internal rechargeable battery. Both sets of instructions will require simple fixing of 4 wall screws and 2 security screws.

How do I disconnect i-Bell from my Wi-Fi network?

The Administrator of your i-Bell account will be able to disconnect the registered i-Bell from your network via the app. You will also be able to remove i-Bell from the security wall bracket, disconnect any power supply and switch i-Bell to the off position before such removal.

Is i-Bell compatible with my existing wireless doorbell?

No, but we are looking at making our own wireless plug-in chime that will work like your existing doorbell and sync directly with your i-Bell.

What happens if the Wi-Fi network fails?

If your Wi-Fi connection fails at any time, you will receive an alert on your smartphone. As soon as the Wi-Fi signal is restored, i-Bell will reconnect to your network and you will receive another alert on your smartphone or other device.

Does i-Bell need to be hardwire connected to the computer during setup?

No, once i-Bell is switched on the Wi-Fi will be activated. i-Bell will then be visible through your network system. It also has a hard wire connection via a mini USB for connection to the USB port on your computer.

Can i-Bell connect and notify more than one user?

Yes, i-Bell will be able to connect and notify multiple users. This will be administered through your account once setup. The account set-up will be a simple and straightforward process.

How long does it take the internal battery to recharge?

i-Bell will be shipped fully charged, however we recommend that from time to time you drain down the battery fully and recharge it. To fully recharge the battery from this state will take approximately 8 hours.

Are you affiliated to Apple?

We would like to make it quite clear that i-Bell is not associated with Apple Inc. or any Apple Inc. products in any way.
The inclusion of any Apple device on this website is not intended to suggest endorsement of any kind.

How do I set up i-Bell?

Fitting i-Bell is easy.

1. Download the i-Bell app

2. Your i-Bell will automatically find your network which will be visible by the downloaded App and will take you through the simple process of connecting your i-Bell to your mobile device. We recommend that this process is complete before fixing i-Bell to the wall or doorframe.

3. Make sure your i-Bell is fully charged by connecting it to a mains supplier via the USB charger. Once charged, simply fix the security back plate to an external surface using the four screws supplied and then connect the i-Bell cover with the two security screws supplied. Follow the instructions provided.

    To connect i-bell to your personal network, you must have a wireless router.

    The range of your personal Wi-Fi network will vary depending on the type of wireless router you own, as well as the distance between the router and i-bell. To see if i-bell will be in range, place your smartPhone against the wall that you intend to mount i-bell to and check to see if you are connected to your Wi-Fi network. If not or you have a weak signal, you may need to purchase a Wi-Fi boosters which can be easily found on the web.

    Compatibility

    i-Bell is compatible with Apple devices which have iOS 6.1 or newer to see and speak to guests while on 3G, 4G and Wi-Fi. For Android devices, you must be equipped with version 2.3 or newer in order to see and speak to guests while on 3G, 4G, and Wi-Fi.

    Will i-Bell provide live video streaming?

    Yes, as soon as the motion sensor is activated live video streaming will commence. This will stop once the call has finished and the motion sensor delay has shut off the active call. You will also be able to activate this function from your smartphone or device if you have remote activation available on your account.
